Arsenal have had a shaky defence for the past few years. Mikel Arteta has managed to fix it to some extent but to challenge for the UCL places, he needs better players. But, due to the Coronavirus and it’s an effect on the club’s finances, Arsenal could be left with very little money to spend. So, who can they get?
Arsenal brought William Saliba last season, and he’s very likely to get into the first team this season after the end of his loan with St. Etienne.
I’ve gone for a similar player, who’s young and could partner Saliba at the back for years to come.
Malang Sarr is a 21 year old frenchman who’s 6’0. He plays for Nice and is valued at around 16-18m by Transfermarkt. But why should Arsenal go for him?
Sarr’s contract ends this season, it means he becomes a free agent. Arsenal has been looking at the free-agent market to bring in reinforcements and Sarr is perfect for the job.
He is a classy defender who commits 0.49 fouls per match. He wins 57.89% of his tackles and has a duel success rate of 52% and an aerial win rate of 47%.
He’s an adept passer of the ball as well, he averages 70.45 passes per 90 and has a 90% success rate. He is also heavily involved in play with almost 82.7 touches per game.
A defender who’s free, young, and good. This should be a no brainer from Arsenal.
